Seasonal Clothing Swap + Mending Party
Sunday, November 4, 1-4 pm
It's time to put away our summer clothes and get out the winter coats: a perfect chance to clear out clothes you don't wear and mend the ones you're wearing out. Bring your unwanted clothes regardless of size or season and swap with others. Dressing rooms will be available! We'll make sure any clothes left at the end of the swap find new homes or good uses.
At the mending station, we'll have notions, sewing machines, and help available to repair clothes. Repairs can blend in, or you can make a statement with beautiful visible mending! All experience levels welcome!
Wednesday, November 14, 6-8 p.m.
16+, $10/person, all materials supplied.
Gear up for Thanksgiving by making waste-free beeswax wraps to help keep your leftovers fresh!
Instructor and enemy of plastic Jess Speer will lead the group in making beautiful and functional alternatives to plastic wrap. Beeswax wraps use the heat from your hands to mold to plates, bowls, blocks of cheese, and all kinds of other things. Care is easy (rinse with cool water) and they're reusable for up to a year, at which point you can wax them again and keep going until it's threadbare!
Greener Gift Wrap
Saturday, December 15, 2-4 p.m.
Family-friendly, $15/person, all materials supplied (except the gifts)
Every year, Americans spend over $7 billion on wrapping paper alone, and most wrapping paper either can't be recycled or is so hard to process that most recyclers don't bother trying. What's a conscientious gift-giver to do?
Come to this workshop with your unwrapped gifts, and we'll try out several alternatives, including plastic-free ribbon, and help you get your gifts ready for giving.
Stay tuned for our next installment!
