Preschool Extended Day Options

We are excited to offer extended programming options before and after-school for our preschoolers at Roots + Wings!

We have four unique providers with hands on sports, music and movement programming Monday - Friday right here at our R+W Creative Campus.  Students register with each provider separately.

Payments must be made directly to these outside providers, not to Roots + Wings.
Please see links below for each person's contact information.  If you need more care beyond 2:00pm, your child can join our Elementary After-school Community Design Lab program that is here at our Roots + Wings Creative Campus until 5:30pm!

Early Afternoon Programming: 12:30-2:00pm

Mondays

Asheville Kids Yoga with Ms. Emma
12:30-2:00pm
Join Ms. Emma as she guides students in a playful yoga practice, helping them increase mind and body awareness, strength, flexibility, focus and creativity. We will find ways to both wiggle, relax and create together after our busy school day. Emma has been teaching preschool for over seven years and she believes that children do best when they have the freedom to learn through play. These extra afternoon hours will be a place where children can be creative, navigate emotions, build confidence and develop necessary skills to interact within the world.  Emma is also a lead teacher at our R+W Visual Arts Preschool.

Playball!
1:00-2:00pm
(Ms. Emma will be available to watch students dismissed before 1pm)
Is your little one interested in soccer, baseball, tennis, basketball, football, or hockey? Give them the skills and the confidence they need to play their favorite games by joining the Playball team where every day is a discovery of new abilities. Each class includes three important components of movement: locomotion, stability, and manipulation. These building blocks are at the core of every synchronizing move we make so teaching them properly in a stimulating way helps children learn quickly and easily. We use pint sized soccer balls, footballs, basketballs, tennis rackets, and hockey sticks to teach kicks, passes, shots on goal, techniques, and grip. We also have balance beams, hurdles, hoops, and cones to create obstacle courses and sport sequences. Lessons are a blast as we sing funny songs and use silly imagery to help remember our techniques. Join the team today so we can learn, practice, and play; it’s the Playball way!

She is constantly amazed by the profound impact music has on children of any age, but especially in their earlier, formative years. In particular, a child’s innate connection to singing, rhythm and movement has shown boundless influence on their cognitive development. Even more importantly, making music brings an incredible amount of joy to their lives! Join us as we focus on the melodic component of the musical world. We will sing songs from different cultures, play along with instruments, practice melodic patterns and feel the connection between music and our bodies. We will also explore the relationship between music and the visual arts.
